and a family dinner at Osaka.
I love celebrating birthdays. I love celebrating my family.
I married the best guy ever.
I hope Jake grows up to be just like him.
Happy Birthday Jake and Kevin!

Happy Birthday Jake and Kevin!
I haven’t posted here since before Christmas. Yes, I know. The horror! The truth is I didn’t have the time or the energy. My whole family came down with some never ending sickness right before, through and after Christmas. I was sick for over three weeks. It was awful. Of course life doesn’t stop when you are sick, so I still had everything to do. It is of course THE busiest time of the year. Had to get ready for the Holidays, attend all of the school Holiday parties and music concerts. All the while hoping my head did not explode. Because I was convinced at any moment that was going to happen.
We had a really nice low key Christmas and New Years. By the time we left for Coco Key Water Resort we were all feeling better and ready to have some fun. I rang in the New Year with an overwhelming feeling of happy. I am at a great place in my life. I have a list of goals that I can’t wait to get started on. I know what direction I am going in, yet I have no idea where I will end up. LOVE THIS FEELING.
We are back on our schedule, which we all do better on. I feel like my head has been lifted from the fog. I am totally ready to ROCK 2012.
Who’s with me?
I have been sick as a dog for the last two weeks, and it has really set me back in my Holiday shopping. I am a last minute kind of shopper in general, but this year I have A LOT to buy in the next two days.
One of the gifts I am going to pick up is the Barbie Sisters Camp Out Stacie Doll and Tent Playset from Mattel. I had the opportunity to review this toy and my daughter LOVES it. We are a camping family, and she plays with this set all the time with her Barbies. Right now it is actually set up under our Christmas tree. I am going to be picking up one of these for my niece for Christmas.
Another gift that I love and I bought for myself is, the Flawless and Fearless gift set from Bare Escentuals. It is the cutest little gift. I have already bought two more for gifts, and I’ll be picking up a couple more tomorrow while I am out.
I also love the idea of buying tickets for events for last minute gifts. You can order online and print out the information. Jake is really into the CT Whale Hockey team right now and I know that he would LOVE to get tickets for a game as a gift. I always love when I get tickets to see one of my favorite bands as a gift. I love live music and it is perfect for me and easy for the gift giver.
I hope you have a wonderful Holiday! Don’t make yourself too crazy worrying about buying gifts, just enjoy your life, have fun and make memories!
I love the Holidays. I have so many fun Holiday memories from when I was a kid and now as a parent starting new traditions with my own family. When I was a kid, my parents always let my brother and I open one present on Christmas Eve. There were always a few presents under the tree to pick from and I couldn’t wait to rip one open. No matter what the present was, and sometimes it was a pair of socks or some other useful present, I loved it. Christmas Eve was always fun growing up and I have kept that tradition of opening one gift with my own children.

Have you heard about Zaarly? No? Well, I had no idea what it was until a few weeks ago. Now that I know all about it, I really like having the option to also search this new site for products or services I may need. It was easy to navigate, and do you want to hear the BEST part? Zaarly will donate $1 to Feeding America for each person that signs up up using THIS LINK.
So what are you waiting for? Sign up and check out what may be available in your area. I think I’m going to head over there right now and see if I can find someone to be my replacement at my son’s parent/teacher conference. Hahaha I can dream right?
Have fun and let me know how you ended up using Zaarly!
Hey there! Ever feel like that guy up there in the picture?
That is my life right now. Except my pile that is weighing me down right now is email. Tons. I know I haven’t posted in a while. Totally sucks. But stick with me people, I have fun stuff coming up! I have been crazy busy the last few weeks and I am just now finally getting caught up. Between work, kids, and now the Holidays, I have been a complete mess. Way too busy! Looking forward to things quieting down after the first of the year. I put my notice in at work, so I can focus on bigger and better things ahead. It is an exciting and scary time, but I am so looking forward to starting the year in a new direction.
Hope the stress of life and the Holidays isn’t getting you all crazy like it is me! Must remember to slow down!
See that picture up there? That picture was sent to me while I was sitting at a table eating lunch at Blogalicious. While I was eating lunch I was listening to the incredible and inspirational Rene Syler speak. For the third time. I was in heaven Everytime I hear her speak I feel energized, ready to take on the world, and completely thankful for all the good I have in my life.
And then Kevin sent me this picture of him and the kids out on a walk titled “The Three Stooges” and I almost lost it at the table. Right in the middle of lunch I almost broke down crying. I was completely overwhelmed with emotion. I felt so loved. In that one moment, all I could think about was how lucky I am. How lucky I am to have these amazing people in my life. They have my back no matter what. They are my biggest cheerleaders. They support me no questions asked. THEY BELIEVE IN ME.
I would not be where I am in my life today if it wasn’t for Kevin and his unconditional support. Ever since the beginning he has motivated me to be a better person and believe in myself. Chelsea, Jake, and Chloe are my rock. They are always there to lift me up when I am feeling low, and cheer me on and celebrate with me when I have even the smallest success.
When I looked at that picture on my phone I was overcome with happiness. The kind of happiness that makes you cry. If it wasn’t for them, I would not have been sitting at that table, eating lunch with amazing women and feeling inspired by Rene Syler.
We are not only a family, we are a team. I am one hell of a lucky Mom.
So, the freak snowstorm we had last week really messed up a lot of stuff. One of the things it messed up was Halloween. No one had power, and it wasn’t safe for anyone to walk around in the dark. Lots of down power lines and trees blocking streets and sidewalks. The town urged everyone to stay home and skip trick or treating. The kids were so upset. This is the first time I can ever remember anything like that happening. So, off to a hotel we went and tried to make the best of a bad situation.
Our hotel had car service to Foxwoods, so that’s where Chloe did her trick or treating, and some of us lost some cash. We had fun but it wasn’t the same as running around the neighborhood with your friends.
So that brings us to last night. Chloe was able to dress up as Sleeping Beauty for a second time! Jake was a character from the Hunger Games, but he was out with his friends and I couldn’t get a picture. That kid cracks me up!
The kids ran around the neighborhood and had a blast trick or treating with their friends. Kevin packed up the beer and headed out with a bunch of the parents and I stayed in and passed out the candy and made Baked Ziti for dinner. As much as I am happy they were able to go out, this feels like the longest Halloween ever. I am very happy to finally take down our decorations and stop eating massive amounts of candy. I’m ready to move on and put the storm and this dragged out Halloween behind us.
Happy Halloween! Hope yours was awesome!
Wow. It has been a quite a week around here. If you are following me on Facebook and Twitter, by now you already know that we had a freak Autumn snow storm and lost power for almost a week. We were extremely lucky to find a hotel room after the first two days. IT WAS COLD. Right from the start of the storm we were determined to make the best of it. I was away at Blogalicious the weekend before, and we had not bought our pumpkins to carve for Halloween, yet, so we figured why let a little snow stop us and went pumpkin picking in the snow. It was actually a blast. So happy we did it.
When we got home we tried to get in as much stuff as we could before the power went out. We knew it was only a matter of time when ours would be out, so many people around us were already loosing it. Their power, that is. We made banana bread and packed up all of the goody bags for Chloe’s Halloween party that was supposed to be on Monday. The kids played out in the snow and came in for hot chocolate and chicken pot pie and stuffed breads.
We really had a fun day…..
Then we finally LOST POWER. Around 7pm. We had a nice night though. The house was still warm, the fire was toasty, and we all just hung out and read or played games on the iPad. I actually read some magazines I had bought weeks ago that I never had time to read. All in all the first night of no power was pretty good. The second night wasn’t as much fun, but I’ll get to that in part two.
Did you loose power in the freak October storm? Have you lost power for a long time? How did you handle it?
